From Thomas the Wafels & Dinges Man: "Extra large grain (P4) pearl sugar from the Tienen factory in Belgium. What makes this sugar so special? Well, it's made out of refined sugar beet sugar that's compacted under very high pressure. This makes for a very hard grain, that won't melt during the baking process. The nice, white pearls will give your waffles or cookies an extra crunch, and a nice decorative touch. Thomas, the owner of Wafels & Dinges, even worked for a while in this factory in 1995. It was in the middle of the fields, only a 10 minute drive from his village, Bierbeek."
